What is Reiki?
Reiki
is an ancient healing art. It is an ancient form of spiritually
guided life force energy which is channeled by You and received by your
pet as a gentle, loving healing
energy. The word Reiki
means "Universal Life Force
Energy". Reiki is an esoteric
Tibetal Buddhist practice that was "rediscovered" by
a Japanese Zen monk sometime in the late 19th century. Reiki
energy has its own unlimited intelligence. It seeks out all areas in the body that are
out of balance or in need of healing at a given moment. It facilitates energy,
allowing it to flow into those areas of the animal body that
are in distress. When Reiki is applied to your pet it brings about deep relaxation and a sense of
well-being.
Reiki facilitates
healing on all levels... physical,
emotional, mental and spiritual. No animal is ever left
untouched by Reiki energy. However, to what degree
is entirely dependent upon the individual animal and his or her
own commitment to inner harmony. Reiki also heals
patterns that lead to pain sometimes
without the animal even knowing it..
Reiki heals
the animal body and emotions, bringing
them into balance and promoting
health, happiness, prosperity and long life.
It is one of the greatest gifts that you can give your pet. Reiki
is compatible with other healing modalities such as traditional
veterinary medicine, massage, holistic medicine, etc.
There is no greater gift one can offer
his/her pet than the energy of Unconditional Love - Reiki
What Can Reiki Do For Your
Pet?
Like
many other non-Western healing systems, Reiki
healing operates on the assumption
that there are seven different chakras,
or energy centers, in the body.
The upper chakras
(numbers five through seven) hold
spiritual feelings and perceptions,
while the lower chakras (one through three) relate to physical survival and well-being. In between lies the fourth
chakra, the heart. The heart is
the pivot, or place of integration, between the upper and lower
chakras, between the spiritual and the physical.
Reiki is legendary for kicking up vivid feelings or fears of old experiences. Reiki masters place their
hands on the area of the back closest to the appropriate chakra
that has a stuck reoccurring memory of a trauma that the animal
has had .This negative energy is
then drawn out into the therapists
healing hands. They discard this
energy as they are trained to do
. Negative energy is continually
removed by the therapist holding
their hands above the animal without touching the fur. The energy
is then pulled and guided away.
Your pet
must feel loved and safe to allow
this therapy to unfold. A calm, quiet almost meditative state
should occur. Occasionally your pet will need stroking or mild
massage to calm and reassure him/her before the Reiki begins.
As in humans, Reiki is very helpful
to release old fears and traumas.
For example, a tape of a sound that bothers your pet can be softly
played as you either massage or use Reiki to remove the energy
of the memory your pet has of the sound that is causing the fear.
A loving praise or treat will replace
a bad memory with a positive one.
